I had been wanting to interview Paul Craig Roberts for a long time already. For many years I have been following his writings and interviews and every time I read what he had to say I was hoping that one day I would have the privilege do interview him about the nature of the US deep state and the Empire. Recently, I emailed him and asked for such an interview, and he very kindly agreed. I am very grateful to him for this opportunity.

The Saker

The Saker:  It has become rather obvious to many, if not most, people that the USA is not a democracy or a republic, but rather a plutocracy run by a small elite which some call “the 1%”.  Others speak of the “deep state”.  So my first question to you is the following.  Could you please take the time to assess the influence and power of each of the following entities one by one.  In particular, can you specify for each of the following whether it has a decision-making “top” position, or a decision-implementing “middle” position in the real structure of power (listed in no specific order)

  • Federal Reserve
  • Big Banking
  • Bilderberg
  • Council on Foreign Relations
  • Skull & Bones
  • CIA
  • Goldman Sachs and top banks
  • “Top 100 families” (Rothschild, Rockefeller, Dutch Royal Family, British Royal Family, etc.)
  • Israel Lobby
  • Freemasons and their lodges
  • Big Business: Big Oil, Military Industrial Complex, etc.
  • Other people or organizations not listed above?

Who, which group, what entity would you consider is really at the apex of power in the current US polity?

Paul Craig Roberts: The US is ruled by private interest groups and by the neoconservative ideology that History has chosen the US as the “exceptional and indispensable” country with the right and responsibility to impose its will on the world.

In my opinion the most powerful of the private interest groups are:

The Military/security Complex
The 4 or 5 mega-sized “banks too big to fail” and Wall Street
The Israel Lobby
Agribusiness
The Extractive industries (oil, mining, timber).

The interests of these interest groups coincide with those of the neoconservatives. The neoconservative ideology supports American financial and military-political imperialism or hegemony.

There is no independent American print or TV media.  In the last years of the Clinton regime, 90% of the print and TV media was concentrated in 6 mega-companies.  During the Bush regime, National Public Radio lost its independence.  So the media functions as a Ministry of Propaganda.

Both political parties, Republicans and Democrats, are dependent on the same private interest groups for campaign funds, so both parties dance to the same masters.  Jobs offshoring destroyed the manufacturing and industrial unions and deprived the Democrats of Labor Union political contributions. In those days, Democrats represented the working people and Republicans represented business.

The Federal Reserve is there for the banks, mainly the large ones. The Federal Reserve was created as lender of last resort to prevent banks from failing because of runs on the bank or withdrawal of deposits.  The New York Fed, which conducts the financial interventions, has a board that consists of the executives of the big banks.  The last  three Federal Reserve chairmen have been Jews, and the current vice chairman is the former head of the Israeli central bank. Jews are prominent in the financial sector, for example, Goldman Sachs.  In recent years, the US Treasury Secretaries and heads of the financial regulatory agencies have mainly been the bank executives responsible for the fraud and excessive debt leverage that set off the last financial crisis.

In the 21st century, the Federal Reserve and Treasury have served only the interests of the large banks.  This has been at the expense of the economy and the population. For example, retired people have had no interest income for eight years in order that the financial institutions can borrow at zero costs and make money.

No matter how rich some families are, they cannot compete with powerful interest groups such as the military/security complex or Wall Street and the banks.  Long established wealth can look after its interests, and some, such as the Rockefellers,  have activist foundations that most likely work hand in hand with the National Endowment for Democracy to fund and encourage various pro-American non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in countries that the US wants to influence or overthrow, such as occurred in Ukraine.  The NGOs are essentially US Fifth Columns and operate under such names as “human rights,” “democracy,” etc.  A Chinese professor told me that the Rockefeller Foundation had created an American University in China and is used to organize various anti-regime Chinese.  At one time, and perhaps still, there were hundreds of US and German financed NGOs in Russia, possibly as many as 1,000.

I don’t know if the Bilderbergs do the same.  Possibly they are just very rich people and have their proteges in governments who try to protect their interests.  I have never seen any signs of Bilderbergs or Masons or Rothchilds affecting congressional or executive branch decisions.

On the other hand, the Council for Foreign Relations is influential.  The council consists of former government policy officials and academics involved in foreign policy and international relations.  The council’s publication, Foreign Affairs, is the premier foreign policy forum.  Some journalists are also members. When I was proposed for membership in the 1980s, I was blackballed.

Skull & Bones is a Yale University secret fraternity.  A number of universities have such secret fraternities.  For example, the University of Virginia has one, and the University of Georgia.  These fraternities do not have secret governmental plots or ruling powers.  Their influence would be limited to the personal influence of the members, who tend to be sons of elite families.  In my opinion, these fraternities exist to convey elite status to members.  They have no operational functions.

The Saker:  What about individuals?  Who are, in your opinion, the most powerful people in the USA today?  Who takes the final, top level, strategic decision?

Paul Craig Roberts:  There really are no people powerful in themselves.  Powerful people are ones that powerful interest groups are behind.  Ever since Secretary of Defense William Perry privatized so much of the military in 1991, the military/security complex has been  extremely powerful, and its power is further amplified by its ability to finance political campaigns and by the fact that it is a source of employment in many states. Essentially Pentagon expenditures are controlled by defense contractors.

The Saker:  I have always believed that in international terms, organizations such as NATO, the EU or all the others are only a front, and that the real alliance which controls the planet are the ECHELON countries: US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand aka “AUSCANNZUKUS” (they are also referred to as the “Anglosphere” or the “Five Eyes”) with the US and the UK are the senior partners while Canada, Australia and New Zealand are the junior partners here.  Is this model correct?

Paul Craig Roberts: NATO was a US creation allegedly to protect Europe from a Soviet invasion.  Its purpose expired in 1991.  Today NATO provides cover for US aggression and provides mercenary forces for the American Empire.  Britain, Canada, Australia, are simply US vassal states just as are Germany, France, Italy, Japan and the rest.  There are no partners; just vassals.  It is Washington’s empire, no one else’s.

The US favors the EU, because it is easier to control than the individual countries.

The Saker:  It is often said that Israel controls the USA.  Chomsky, and others, say that it is the USA which controls Israel.  How would you characterize the relationship between Israel and the USA – does the dog wag the tail or does the tail wag the dog?  Would you say that the Israel Lobby is in total control of the USA or are there still other forces capable of saying “no” to the Israel Lobby and impose their own agenda?

Paul Craig Roberts:  I have never seen any evidence that the US controls Israel.  All the evidence is that Israel controls the US, but only its MidEast policy.  In recent years, Israel or the Israel Lobby, has been able to control or block academic appointments in the US and tenure for professors considered to be critics of Israel.  Israel has successfully reached into both Catholic and State universities to block tenure and appointments.  Israel can also block some presidential appointments and has vast influence over the print and TV media.  The Israel Lobby also has plenty of money for political campaign funds and never fails to unseat US Representatives and Senators considered critical of Israel.  The Israel lobby was able to reach into the black congressional district of Cynthia McKinney, a black woman, and defeat her reelection.  As Admiral Tom Moorer, Chief of Naval Operations and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said: “No American President can stand up to Israel.”  Adm. Moorer could not even get an official investigation of Israel’s deadly attack on the USS Liberty in 1967.

Anyone who criticizes Israeli policies even in a helpful way is labeled an “anti-Semite.”

In American politics, media, and universities, this is a death-dealing blow.  You might as well get hit with a hellfire missile.

The Saker:  Which of the 12 entities of power which I listed above have, in your opinion, played a key role in the planning and execution of the 9/11 “false flag” operation?  After all, it is hard to imagine that this was planned and prepared between the inauguration of GW Bush and September 11th – it must have been prepared during the years of the Clinton Administration.  Is it not true the the Oklahoma City bombing was a rehearsal for 9/11?

Paul Craig Roberts: In my opinion 9/11 was the product of the neoconservatives, almost all of whom are Jewish, Dick Cheney, and Israel.  Its purpose was to provide “the new Pearl Harbor” that the neoconservatives said was necessary to launch their wars of conquest in the Middle East.  I don’t know how far back it was planned, but Silverstein was obviously part of it and he had not had the WTC for very long before 9/11.

As for the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, US Air Force General Partin, the Air Force’s munitions expert,  prepared an expert report proving beyond all doubt that the building blew up from the inside out and that the truck bomb was cover.  Congress and the media ignored his report.  The patsy, McVeigh,  was already set up, and that was the only story allowed.

The Saker:  Do you think that the people who run the USA today realize that they are on a collision course with Russia which could lead to thermonuclear war?  If yes, why would they take such a risk? Do they really believe that at the last moment Russian will “blink” and back down, or do they actually believe that they can win a nuclear war?  Are they not afraid that in a nuclear conflagration with Russia they will lose everything they have, including their power and even their lives?

Paul Craig Roberts: I am as puzzled as much as you.  I think Washington is lost in hubris and arrogance and
is more or less insane.  Also, there is belief that the US can win a nuclear war with Russia.  There was an article in Foreign Affairs around 2005 or 2006 in which this conclusion was reached.  The belief in the winnability of nuclear war has been boosted by faith in ABM defenses.  The argument is that the US can hit Russia so hard in a preemptive first strike that Russia would not retaliate in fear of a second blow.

The Saker:  How do you assess the current health of the Empire?  For many years we have seen clear signs of decline, but there is still not visible collapse.  Do you believe that such a collapse is inevitable and, if not, how could it be prevented?  Will we see the day when the US Dollar suddenly become worthless or will another mechanism precipitate the collapse of this Empire?

Paul Craig Roberts:  The US economy is hollowed out.  There has been no real median family income growth for decades.  Alan Greenspan as Fed Chairman used an expansion of consumer credit to take the place of the missing growth in consumer income, but the population is now too indebted to take on more.  So there is nothing to drive the economy.  So many manufacturing and tradable professional service jobs such as software engineering have been moved offshore that the middle class has shrunk.  University graduates cannot get jobs that support an independent existence.  So they can’t form households, buy houses, appliances and home furnishings.  The government produces low inflation measures by not measuring inflation and low unemployment rates by not measuring unemployment.  The financial markets are rigged, and gold is driven down despite rising demand by selling uncovered shorts in the futures market.  It is a house of cards that has stood longer than I thought possible.  Apparently, the house of cards can stand until the rest of the world ceases to hold the US dollar as reserves.

Possibly the empire has put too much stress on Europe by involving Europe in a conflict with Russia.  If Germany, for example, were to pull out of NATO, the empire would collapse, or if Russia can find the wits to finance Greece, Italy, and Spain in exchange for them leaving the Euro and EU, the empire would suffer a fatal blow.

Alternatively, Russia might tell Europe that Russia has no alternative but to target European capitals with nuclear weapons now that Europe has joined the US in conducting war against Russia.

The Saker:  Russia and China have done something unique in history and they have gone beyond the traditional model of forming an alliance: they have agreed to become interdependent – one could say that they have agreed to a symbiotic relationship.  Do you believe that those in charge of the Empire have understood the tectonic change which has just happen or are they simply going into deep denial because reality scares them too much?

Paul Craig Roberts:  Stephen Cohen says that there is simply no foreign policy discussion.  There is no debate.  I think the empire thinks that it can destabilize Russia and China and that is one reason Washington has color revolutions working in Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. As Washington is determined to prevent the rise of other powers and is lost in hubris and arrogance, Washington probably believes that it will succeed.  After all, History chose Washington.

The Saker:  In your opinion, do presidential elections still matter and, if yes, what is your best hope for 2016?  I am personally very afraid of Hillary Clinton whom I see as an exceptionally dangerous and outright evil person, but with the current Neocon influence inside the Republican, can we really hope for a non-Neocon candidate to win the GOP nomination?

Paul Craig Roberts:  The only way a presidential election could matter would be if the elected president had behind him a strong movement.  Without a movement, the president has no independent power and no one to appoint who will do his bidding.  Presidents are captives.  Reagan had something of a movement, just enough that we were able to cure stagflation despite Wall Street’s opposition and we were able to end the cold war despite the opposition of the CIA and the military/security complex.  Plus Reagan was very old and came from a long time ago.  He assumed the office of the president was powerful and acted that way.

The Saker:  What about the armed forces?  Can you imagine a Chairman of the JCS saying “no, Mr President, that is crazy, we will not do this” or do you expect the generals to obey any order, including one starting a nuclear war against Russia?  Do you have any hope that the US military could step in and stop the “crazies” currently in power in the White House and Congress?

Paul Craig Roberts:  The US military is a creature of the armaments industries.  The whole purpose of making general is to be qualified to be a consultant to the “defense” industry, or to become an executive or on the board of a “defense” contractor.  The military serves as the source of retirement careers when the generals make the big money.  The US military is totally corrupt.  Read Andrew Cockburn’s book, Kill Chain.

The Saker:  If the USA is really deliberately going down the path towards war with Russia – what should Russia do?  Should Russia back down and accept to be subjugated as a preferable option to a thermonuclear war, or should Russia resist and thereby accept the possibility of a thermonuclear war?  Do you believe that a very deliberate and strong show of strength on the part of Russia could deter a US attack?

Paul Craig Roberts: I have often wondered about this.  I can’t say that I know.  I think Putin is humane enough to surrender rather than to be part of the destruction of the world, but Putin has to answer to others inside Russia and I doubt the nationalists would stand for surrender.

In my opinion, I think Putin should focus on Europe and make Europe aware that Russia expects an American attack and will have no choice except to wipe out Europe in response.  Putin should encourage Europe to break off from NATO in order to prevent World War 3.

Putin should also make sure China understands that China represents the same perceived threat to the US as Russia and that the two countries need to stand together.  Perhaps if Russia and China were to maintain their forces on a nuclear alert, not the top one, but an elevated one that conveyed recognition of the American threat and conveyed this threat to the world, the US could be isolated.

Perhaps if the Indian press, the Japanese Press, the French and German press, the UK press, the Chinese and Russian press began reporting that Russia and China wonder if they will receive a pre-emptive nuclear attack from Washington the result would be to prevent the attack.

As far as I can tell from my many media interviews with the Russian media, there is no Russian awareness of the Wolfowitz Doctrine. Russians think that there is some kind of misunderstanding about Russian intentions.  The Russian media does not understand that Russia is unacceptable, because Russia is not a US vassal. Russians believe all the Western bullshit about “freedom and democracy” and believe that they are short on both but making progress.  In other words, Russians have no idea that they are targeted for destruction.

The Saker:  What are, in your opinion, the roots of the hatred of so many members of the US elites for Russia?  Is that just a leftover from the Cold War, or is there another reason for the almost universal russophobia amongst US elites?  Even during the Cold War, it was unclear whether the US was anti-Communist or anti-Russian?  Is there something in the Russian culture, nation or civilization which triggers that hostility and, if yes, what is it?

Paul Craig Roberts: The hostility toward Russia goes back to the Wolfowttz Doctrine:

Our first objective is to prevent the re-emergence of a new rival, either on the territory of the former Soviet Union or elsewhere, that poses a threat on the order of that posed formerly by the Soviet Union. This is a dominant consideration underlying the new regional defense strategy and requires that we endeavor to prevent any hostile power from dominating a region whose resources would, under consolidated control, be sufficient to generate global power.

While the US was focused on its MidEast wars, Putin restored Russia and blocked  Washington’s planned invasion of Syria and bombing of Iran.  The “first objective” of the neocon doctrine was breached.  Russia had to be brought into line.  That is the origin of Washington’s attack on Russia.  The dependent and captive US and European media simply repeats “the Russian Threat” to the public, which is insouciant and otherwise uninformed.

The offense of Russian culture is also there–Christian morals, respect for law and humanity, diplomacy in place of coercion, traditional social mores–but these are in the background.  Russia is hated because Russia (and China) is a check on Washington’s unilateral uni-power.  This check is what will lead to war.

If the Russians and Chinese do not expect a pre-emptive nuclear attack from Washington, they will be destroyed.

Why ?… are “We the People”…

Too blind to care

All Americans

are accessories

to mass murder

ALL OVER THE WORLD

By John Kaminski

pseudoskylax@gmail.com

http://therebel.org/en/kaminski

Be like most Americans. You don’t need to pay attention to the wars. They aren’t shooting at you . . . yet. Go back to worrying about your ballgame. So you lose a few of your children. Big deal. You voted for a string of killers who have murdered millions of people they knew were innocent. And every single one of those corpses was a result that you enabled, because you voted for them.

Take responsibility. Taste the blood in your throat. One day soon it will likely be your own, and many of those people you thought were telling you the truth will chuckle at your fatal gullibility as they count the cash they won by their cynical complicity.

The thing you might want to think about is that not one of those people ever murdered by the obese American war machine was ever any threat to the United States. They were killed by Americans simply because the Jews wanted them dead, because their very presence somehow interfered with the grand kosher profit strategy. And as everyone should know by now, Americans are totally controlled by Jews who have the strings to our moneybags tightly wrapped around our throats and our politicians’ testicles.

Toward the end of World War 2, Gen. George S. Patton realized that he had helped defeat the wrong enemy.

“We have destroyed what could have been a good race, and we are about to replace them with Mongolian savages. . . . Actually, the Germans are the only decent people left in Europe. It’s a choice between them and the Russians. I prefer the Germans.”

<https://www.stormfront.org/forum/t519497/>

So you can see why the Jews had to kill Patton. He didn’t want to give half of Europe to the Jews who had stolen Russia and turned it into the Soviet Union, still arguably the greatest mass murderer of all time, despite current efforts by the United States to surpass the Soviet achievement.

And he didn’t understand, as most Americans don’t understand today, that he was working for the Jews from the get-go. When you control the money supply, you control everyone’s minds, property and efforts.

As the great American hero of World War 2 who was murdered by his superiors when he revealed the mistake his country had made, what might Patton have thought about today’s disgusting events, with the America’s serial invasions of defenseless countries whose resources it brazenly steals. As Obama told the Russians, “You don’t like us taking Syria? Well, we’ll take Ukraine instead.”

I don’t think it was ever Patton’s intention to make war against every country in the world. Until it was too late and the war was over, I don’t think Patton ever realized the U.S. was doing the Jews’ business when it destroyed Germany.

I don’t think Patton would ever have approved installing Israeli terrorists in Ukraine to murder innocent women and children while trying to goad Russia into World War 3. (I find the campaign by Jewish media to blame Russia for the Ukraine events — when they were so clearly engineered by Hillary Clinton and her neocon throat cutters — to be the most egregious misleading of the American public since the conversion of Hitler from Time magazine’s Man of the Year to the greatest threat ever in world history, all because he circumvented the Jews’ worldwide financial tyranny.)

I don’t think Patton would have tolerated the government he worked for hiring bunches of thugs from all over the world to serve as convenient foils for his own armed forces to pretend to fight, which is the situation in the Middle East with ISIS, or ISIL, or DASH, supposedly a U.S. enemy that never hurts any Jews, but constantly beheads other non-Jewish innocents, and are the latest beneficiaries of American military expenditures.

It’s not such a new thing, you know, for America to support both sides in the same war. We’ve been sending pallets of cash to Iraq for decades for that very purpose. But no, it’s not really the American formula. It’s a time tested Jewish formula to keep the world in disarray. Support both sides in any conflict, and profit no matter the result.

Americans don’t really want to look at all those dead bodies of old ladies in kerchiefs and teenagers carrying schoolbooks sprawled in the streets. They don’t want to think about how Hillary Clinton set up her Israeli friends in Kiev and gave them the right to slaughter innocent people only trying to Iive their lives.

Americans never wanted to look at all the innocents we obliterated in Libya, Iraq or Afghanistan, and now are trying to impose the same formula in Yemen, Iran and Syria. We see these bleeding bodies lying in the streets and turn our heads away.

We don’t need to find any new enemies. We simply create them, then shoot them down and call it war. We create them, and the pay is so good that it attracts thrill seekers, malcontents and outlaws from all over the world to perpetrate atrocities on the unsuspecting. It’s not your blood. Why worry about it?

All these events are the same event. The same formula of the Jewish destabilization template used on every country, with the goal of making them all look like Palestine.

We have lost our minds and are pointing the gun at our own foreheads, all because we refuse to see the reality that Jewish influence has turned our lives to excrement, and we are not allowed to talk about it.

Is it mere stupidity or a more psychologically complex case of self-deception?

The crucial factor by which we have been led by our noses to the doorway of destruction has been the widespread failure to speak candidly about the psychic plague that colors all our lives with a smelly shade of feces brown.

The plague the Jews have brought to America, an infection they have spread throughout the rest of the world, is worse than the bubonic plague they brought to Europe.

These are the lies we tell ourselves. Jews are merely another ethnic group. This is the big mistake. They are conscienceless vermin who have infected and diminished every aspect of our society.

Most people realize they have no leverage with their elected officials. That only money earns them any influence. So the general feeling of the public is, “Why bother? It will come to nothing. If you don’t have the money to buy influence, you have none.”

This is the noose of our society. With power come lies that are escaped only by bribery.

This mental quicksand is the blindness of empire.

Americans absolutely do not care that their government lies to them.

Things should be becoming clearer but in reality they’re becoming more opaque.

Do Americans want to be killers? The evidence says that they do.

The American government has gone so far overboard into the insanity of unopposed power and the American people have fallen so deeply into a coma of propagandized indifference that neither can any longer see that their country is sinking into the mental quicksand of believing that they can tell any lie and have it be believed and commit any crime and get away with it. It is nothing but the euphoric drunkenness of the conscienceless conqueror that always presages the catastrophic destruction of an empire with no scruples.

In a psychotic scenario that never could have been predicted, the United States is involved in so many military adventures simultaneously that it is absolutely impossible to tell which wars are actually real and which military provocations are merely staged dramas where the stated facts supposedly justifying these vast expenditures for armaments and these truly stunning totals of innocent people who are murdered to make the false claims appear real are impossible to tell apart, with the possibility that NONE of the wars are real, and ALL are creations of those soulless drecks who sell the weapons and keep the world bleeding for that very purpose, and none other.

So far overboard into the insanity of unopposed power. Like an abusive father who is raping his children and has the protection of the local police who will not investigate his crimes, the U.S. government sends troops overseas on a whim to alleviate the insecurities of oil companies who fear their investments will falter.

The first and biggest lie is that the victor can stop after his conquest. The victor never stops until he is stopped. By any method possible, only the people rising up can defeat the tyrant.

The second biggest lie is that once the first lie is established and not debunked, it affects the entire future until the whole complex is finally overturned, if it ever is. It changes the whole nature of the history that follows. This is the legacy of 9/11, the world wars, and the Jewish takeover of America in 1913. All these events helped create a world totally controlled by Jews.

Probably the stupidest people, the most delusional, are those who defend Jews as just another ethnic group. These people don’t have the intestinal fortitude to admit Jews control every aspect of their lives, and have ruined every tradition they ever thought was decent.

As a result, they can’t see that every future presidential candidate they hear being discussed is either a signee or a fervent supporter of the group that gave us the PNAC report, the Project for a New American Century, which was the cabal that gave us 9/11 and all the wars. Until we break this Jewish media mindlock, we can expect nothing but deception, death and destruction from the country that once, long ago, was thought to be the hope of the world, but has now become its worst nightmare.

Admit your guilt that you are the problem, because Americans simply do not care whom they kill. And to say anything else, or to protest that you’re not part of it, is simply another lie.

Cooperation works … Competition fails !!

Moscow & Cairo to drop USD, use national currencies in bilateral trade – Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin (R) and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi (RIA Novosti / Mihail Metzel)

Russia and Egypt might soon exclude the US dollar and use their national currencies in the settlement of accounts in bilateral trade, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview to Egyptian media ahead of his Monday visit to the country.

The issue of abandoning the dollar in trade is “being actively discussed,” Putin told Al-Ahram daily newspaper ahead of his two-day trip to Egypt. The Russian president was invited for a bilateral meeting by his Egyptian counterpart Abdul Fattah al-Sisi.

“This measure will open up new prospects for trade and investment cooperation between our countries, reduce its dependence on the current trends in the world markets,” Putin said.

“I should note that we already use national currencies for trade with a number of the CIS [Commonwealth of Independent States] states, and China. This practice proves its worth; we are ready to adopt it in our relations with Egypt as well. This issue is being discussed in substance by relevant agencies of both countries.”

Egypt is a long-time and trusted partner of Russia and the relationship between the two countries has been rapidly developing, the Russian president said.

“The volume of bilateral trade has increased significantly over the past years: In 2014, it increased by almost half compared to the previous year and amounted to more than $4.5 billion,” he said urging for this trend to be strengthened.

He also praised the development of “mutually beneficial and effective”cooperation in the sector of agriculture. “Egypt is the major buyer of Russian wheat, Russia provides about 40 percent of grain consumed in the country; as for us, we import fruits and vegetables.”

Moscow imposed a full ban of EU, US, Australian, Canadian, and Norwegian food exports to Russia on August 7 for one year. Amid Russian sanctions, Egypt said in August that it was ready to boost agricultural deliveries to Russia by 30 percent.

During 2013, Egypt’s deliveries of agricultural products to Russia amounted $440 million, while during the first half of 2014, Cairo supplied $460 million, said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Nikolay Fedorov in August 2014.

Moscow and Cairo are also engaged in energy, automobile manufacturing and transport cooperation, developing the intergovernmental trade, economic and scientific-technical cooperation commission as well.

During Sisi’s last visit to Russia in August 2014, the two leaders agreed to look at a possibility of creating a free trade zone between Egypt and the countries of the Customs Union. Meeting in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi, the presidents also agreed upon the creation of a Russian industrial zone in Egypt, which will be part of a new Suez Canal project.

Egypt launched a Suez Canal development project worth $4 billion in August 2014. The project envisages the digging of a new canal parallel to the original built 145 years ago with the aim of speeding up traffic along the existing waterway and boosting the country’s economy.

Who made US… A mockery of …  Democracy ?

The Anti-Empire Report #136

By William Blum – Published January 20th, 2015

Murdering journalists … them and us

After Paris, condemnation of religious fanaticism is at its height. I’d guess that even many progressives fantasize about wringing the necks of jihadists, bashing into their heads some thoughts about the intellect, about satire, humor, freedom of speech. We’re talking here, after all, about young men raised in France, not Saudi Arabia.

Where has all this Islamic fundamentalism come from in this modern age? Most of it comes – trained, armed, financed, indoctrinated – from Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Syria. During various periods from the 1970s to the present, these four countries had been the most secular, modern, educated, welfare states in the Middle East region. And what had happened to these secular, modern, educated, welfare states?

In the 1980s, the United States overthrew the Afghan government that was progressive, with full rights for women, believe it or not http://williamblum.org/aer/read/136, leading to the creation of the Taliban and their taking power.

In the 2000s, the United States overthrew the Iraqi government, destroying not only the secular state, but the civilized state as well, leaving a failed state.

In 2011, the United States and its NATO military machine overthrew the secular Libyan government of Muammar Gaddafi, leaving behind a lawless state and unleashing many hundreds of jihadists and tons of weaponry across the Middle East.

And for the past few years the United States has been engaged in overthrowing the secular Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad. This, along with the US occupation of Iraq having triggered widespread Sunni-Shia warfare, led to the creation of The Islamic State with all its beheadings and other charming practices.

However, despite it all, the world was made safe for capitalism, imperialism, anti-communism, oil, Israel, and jihadists. God is Great!

Starting with the Cold War, and with the above interventions building upon that, we have 70 years of American foreign policy, without which – as Russian/American writer Andre Vltchek has observed – “almost all Muslim countries, including Iran, Egypt and Indonesia, would now most likely be socialist, under a group of very moderate and mostly secular leaders”. http://williamblum.org/aer/read/136Even the ultra-oppressive Saudi Arabia – without Washington’s protection – would probably be a very different place.

On January 11, Paris was the site of a March of National Unity in honor of the magazine Charlie Hebdo, whose journalists had been assassinated by terrorists. The march was rather touching, but it was also an orgy of Western hypocrisy, with the French TV broadcasters and the assembled crowd extolling without end the NATO world’s reverence for journalists and freedom of speech; an ocean of signs declaring Je suis CharlieNous Sommes Tous Charlie; and flaunting giant pencils, as if pencils – not bombs, invasions, overthrows, torture, and drone attacks – have been the West’s weapons of choice in the Middle East during the past century.

No reference was made to the fact that the American military, in the course of its wars in recent decades in the Middle East and elsewhere, had been responsible for the deliberate deaths of dozens of journalists. In Iraq, among other incidents, see Wikileaks’ 2007 video of the cold-blooded murder of two Reuters journalists; the 2003 US air-to-surface missile attack on the offices of Al Jazeera in Baghdad that left three journalists dead and four wounded; and the American firing on Baghdad’s Hotel Palestine the same year that killed two foreign cameramen.

Moreover, on October 8, 2001, the second day of the US bombing of Afghanistan, the transmitters for the Taliban government’s Radio Shari were bombed and shortly after this the US bombed some 20 regional radio sites. US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld defended the targeting of these facilities, saying: “Naturally, they cannot be considered to be free media outlets. They are mouthpieces of the Taliban and those harboring terrorists.” http://williamblum.org/aer/read/136

And in Yugoslavia, in 1999, during the infamous 78-day bombing of a country which posed no threat at all to the United States or any other country, state-owned Radio Television Serbia (RTS) was targeted because it was broadcasting things which the United States and NATO did not like (like how much horror the bombing was causing). The bombs took the lives of many of the station’s staff, and both legs of one of the survivors, which had to be amputated to free him from the wreckage. http://williamblum.org/aer/read/136

I present here some views on Charlie Hebdo sent to me by a friend in Paris who has long had a close familiarity with the publication and its staff:

“On international politics Charlie Hebdo was neoconservative. It supported every single NATO intervention from Yugoslavia to the present. They were anti-Muslim, anti-Hamas (or any Palestinian organization), anti-Russian, anti-Cuban (with the exception of one cartoonist), anti-Hugo Chávez, anti-Iran, anti-Syria, pro-Pussy Riot, pro-Kiev … Do I need to continue?

“Strangely enough, the magazine was considered to be ‘leftist’. It’s difficult for me to criticize them now because they weren’t ‘bad people’, just a bunch of funny cartoonists, yes, but intellectual freewheelers without any particular agenda and who actually didn’t give a fuck about any form of ‘correctness’ – political, religious, or whatever; just having fun and trying to sell a ‘subversive’ magazine (with the notable exception of the former editor, Philippe Val, who is, I think, a true-blooded neocon).”

Dumb and Dumber

Remember Arseniy Yatsenuk? The Ukrainian whom US State Department officials adopted as one of their own in early 2014 and guided into the position of Prime Minister so he could lead the Ukrainian Forces of Good against Russia in the new Cold War?

In an interview on German television on January 7, 2015 Yatsenuk allowed the following words to cross his lips: “We all remember well the Soviet invasion of Ukraine and Germany. We will not allow that, and nobody has the right to rewrite the results of World War Two”. http://williamblum.org/aer/read/136

The Ukrainian Forces of Good, it should be kept in mind, also include several neo-Nazis in high government positions and many more partaking in the fight against Ukrainian pro-Russians in the south-east of the country. Last June, Yatsenuk referred to these pro-Russians as “sub-humans” http://williamblum.org/aer/read/136, directly equivalent to the Nazi term “untermenschen”.

So the next time you shake your head at some stupid remark made by a member of the US government, try to find some consolation in the thought that high American officials are not necessarily the dumbest, except of course in their choice of who is worthy of being one of the empire’s partners.

The type of rally held in Paris this month to condemn an act of terror by jihadists could as well have been held for the victims of Odessa in Ukraine last May. The same neo-Nazi types referred to above took time off from parading around with their swastika-like symbols and calling for the death of Russians, Communists and Jews, and burned down a trade-union building in Odessa, killing scores of people and sending hundreds to hospital; many of the victims were beaten or shot when they tried to flee the flames and smoke; ambulances were blocked from reaching the wounded … Try and find a single American mainstream media entity that has made even a slightly serious attempt to capture the horror. You would have to go to the Russian station in Washington, DC, RT.com, search “Odessa fire” for many stories, images and videos. Also see the Wikipedia entry on the 2 May 2014 Odessa clashes.

If the American people were forced to watch, listen, and read all the stories of neo-Nazi behavior in Ukraine the past few years, I think they – yes, even the American people and their less-than-intellectual Congressional representatives – would start to wonder why their government was so closely allied with such people. The United States may even go to war with Russia on the side of such people.

L’Occident n’est pas Charlie pour Odessa. Il n’y a pas de défilé à Paris pour Odessa.

Some thoughts about this thing called ideology

Norman Finkelstein, the fiery American critic of Israel, was interviewed recently by Paul Jay on The Real News Network. Finkelstein related how he had been a Maoist in his youth and had been devastated by the exposure and downfall of the Gang of Four in 1976 in China. “It came out there was just an awful lot of corruption. The people who we thought were absolutely selfless were very self-absorbed. And it was clear. The overthrow of the Gang of Four had huge popular support.”

Many other Maoists were torn apart by the event. “Everything was overthrown overnight, the whole Maoist system, which we thought [were] new socialist men, they all believed in putting self second, fighting self. And then overnight the whole thing was reversed.”

“You know, many people think it was McCarthy that destroyed the Communist Party,” Finkelstein continued. “That’s absolutely not true. You know, when you were a communist back then, you had the inner strength to withstand McCarthyism, because it was the cause. What destroyed the Communist Party was Khrushchev’s speech,” a reference to Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev’s 1956 exposure of the crimes of Joseph Stalin and his dictatorial rule.

Although I was old enough, and interested enough, to be influenced by the Chinese and Russian revolutions, I was not. I remained an admirer of capitalism and a good loyal anti-communist. It was the war in Vietnam that was my Gang of Four and my Nikita Khrushchev. Day after day during 1964 and early 1965 I followed the news carefully, catching up on the day’s statistics of American firepower, bombing sorties, and body counts. I was filled with patriotic pride at our massive power to shape history. Words like those of Winston Churchill, upon America’s entry into the Second World War, came easily to mind again – “England would live; Britain would live; the Commonwealth of Nations would live.” Then, one day – a day like any other day – it suddenly and inexplicably hit me. In those villages with the strange names there were people under those falling bombs, people running in total desperation from that god-awful machine-gun strafing.

This pattern took hold. The news reports would stir in me a self-righteous satisfaction that we were teaching those damn commies that they couldn’t get away with whatever it was they were trying to get away with. The very next moment I would be struck by a wave of repulsion at the horror of it all. Eventually, the repulsion won out over the patriotic pride, never to go back to where I had been; but dooming me to experience the despair of American foreign policy again and again, decade after decade. http://williamblum.org/aer/read/136

The human brain is an amazing organ. It keeps working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 52 weeks a year, from before you leave the womb, right up until the day you find nationalism. And that day can come very early. Here’s a recent headline from the Washington Post: “In the United States the brainwashing starts in kindergarten.”

Oh, my mistake. It actually said “In N. Korea the brainwashing starts in kindergarten.” http://williamblum.org/aer/read/136

Let Cuba Live! The Devil’s List of what the United States has done to Cuba

On May 31, 1999, a lawsuit for $181 billion in wrongful death, personal injury, and economic damages was filed in a Havana court against the government of the United States. It was subsequently filed with the United Nations. Since that time its fate is somewhat of a mystery.

The lawsuit covered the 40 years since the country’s 1959 revolution and described, in considerable detail taken from personal testimony of victims, US acts of aggression against Cuba; specifying, often by name, date, and particular circumstances, each person known to have been killed or seriously wounded. In all, 3,478 people were killed and an additional 2,099 seriously injured. (These figures do not include the many indirect victims of Washington’s economic pressures and blockade, which caused difficulties in obtaining medicine and food, in addition to creating other hardships.)

The case was, in legal terms, very narrowly drawn. It was for the wrongful death of individuals, on behalf of their survivors, and for personal injuries to those who survived serious wounds, on their own behalf. No unsuccessful American attacks were deemed relevant, and consequently there was no testimony regarding the many hundreds of unsuccessful assassination attempts against Cuban President Fidel Castro and other high officials, or even of bombings in which no one was killed or injured. Damages to crops, livestock, or the Cuban economy in general were also excluded, so there was no testimony about the introduction into the island of swine fever or tobacco mold.

However, those aspects of Washington’s chemical and biological warfare waged against Cuba that involved human victims were described in detail, most significantly the creation of an epidemic of hemorrhagic dengue fever in 1981, during which some 340,000 people were infected and 116,000 hospitalized; this in a country which had never before experienced a single case of the disease. In the end, 158 people, including 101 children, died. http://williamblum.org/aer/read/136That only 158 people died, out of some 116,000 who were hospitalized, was an eloquent testimony to the remarkable Cuban public health sector.

The complaint describes the campaign of air and naval attacks against Cuba that commenced in October 1959, when US president Dwight Eisenhower approved a program that included bombings of sugar mills, the burning of sugar fields, machine-gun attacks on Havana, even on passenger trains.

Another section of the complaint described the armed terrorist groups, los banditos, who ravaged the island for five years, from 1960 to 1965, when the last group was located and defeated. These bands terrorized small farmers, torturing and killing those considered (often erroneously) active supporters of the Revolution; men, women, and children. Several young volunteer literacy-campaign teachers were among the victims of the bandits.

There was also of course the notorious Bay of Pigs invasion, in April 1961. Although the entire incident lasted less than 72 hours, 176 Cubans were killed and 300 more wounded, 50 of them permanently disabled.

The complaint also described the unending campaign of major acts of sabotage and terrorism that included the bombing of ships and planes as well as stores and offices. The most horrific example of sabotage was of course the 1976 bombing of a Cubana airliner off Barbados in which all 73 people on board were killed. There were as well as the murder of Cuban diplomats and officials around the world, including one such murder on the streets of New York City in 1980. This campaign continued to the 1990s, with the murders of Cuban policemen, soldiers, and sailors in 1992 and 1994, and the 1997 hotel bombing campaign, which took the life of a foreigner; the bombing campaign was aimed at discouraging tourism and led to the sending of Cuban intelligence officers to the US in an attempt to put an end to the bombings; from their ranks rose the Cuban Five.

To the above can be added the many acts of financial extortion, violence and sabotage carried out by the United States and its agents in the 16 years since the lawsuit was filed. In sum total, the deep-seated injury and trauma inflicted upon on the Cuban people can be regarded as the island’s own 9-11. http://williamblum.org/aer/read/136

Birth Trauma,

and the Dark Side of Modern Medicine,

Exposing the Systematic Violence

Is the world going mad and are people a lot more unhappy than they should be because of the barbaric way doctors treat mothers when they deliver their babies?

Jeanice Barcelo’s gut wrenching indictment of the way hospitals and doctors brutally manipulate pregnant mothers in Birth Trauma, and the Dark Side of Modern Medicine, Exposing the Systematic Violence Against Women and Infants During Hospital Birth insists this interference in the mother/child bond is a key element in the breakdown of human love worldwide.

The medical profession has its own rules about delivering babies, and the way Barcelo tells it, these methods not only create lasting scars in mothers, destroy many marriages and unnecessarily injure and kill children. They also leave a great uninvestigated tragedy of infants who do not properly bond with their mothers as a result of medical expedience more interested in profitable procedures than in healthy children.

Its effect on the world — but most especially on women and children, she insists — is catastrophic.

Ordinary readers, especially men brave enough to tackle the subject, will view with unadulterated horror the things that are done to babies in the name of keeping them healthy. Like screwing fetal heart monitors into their skulls. Or memory block drugs used for a variety of purposes including sexual molestation.

“Doctors don’t care if mom

and the baby are damaged”

Barcelo calls this birth trauma a hidden epidemic, and cites a 1995 study that determined 95 percent of all births in the U.S. were considered traumatic, 45% severely traumatic. The Centers for Disease Control, she says, are responsible for causing the deaths of thousands of unborn babies, because vaccinations cause a massive spike in fetal deaths.

An increasing number of birthing mothers recall their experiences as “birth rape”, and following the extreme level of abuse they receive in hospitals, post traumatic stress afflicts many of them.

The level of malfeasance Barcelo itemizes in her examples of women giving birth reveals a glossary of horrors facing every woman who plans to have her baby delivered in a hospital.

The most magic moment of every mother’s life is turned into a nightmare by cash conscious doctors who misuse drugs not meant for childbirth to trigger induction — forcibly ejecting babies from the womb at the profound cost of severing the psychological bond between mother and child and predisposing that child to both afflictions and addictions later in life that need not otherwise occur.

The cost to society is extraordinary, tragic and mostly unacknowledged, the author stresses.

“The core of our pain starts at childbirth. It’s about our own mothers handing over their power” to a conscienceless machine that rings babies through a medical cash register which simply doesn’t treat them as the supremely sensitive and vulnerable human beings they are.

“They are birthing babies in violence and leaving infants alone at the gate in nurseries of horror, all done for power and gain.

“Knock ‘em out and pull ‘em out — it has all the elements of rape,” says Barcelo, who herself has experienced five traumatic pregnancies that provided her with firsthand knowledge of how this miracle of birth is turned into a nightmare by the heavy handed processes used in for-profit hospitals.

Central to the tragedy is the use of epidural drugs, which accelerate the birth process. These cut off mothers’ conscious contact with their babies and not only deprive them of the most special moments of their lives as mothers, but sabotage the bond with their child for life.

‘Pit to distress’

Barcelo cites two main drugs as the major culprits in ruining the birth experience: cytotec (an ulcer drug) and pitocin, neither of which are recommended for use in labor but are widely used to hasten the contrived necessity of Cesarean section surgeries.

“We have the highest C-Section rate in the world because these drugs cut off oxygen to the babies and disrupt bonding and breastfeeding. Both drugs are linked to oxycodone addiction late in life as well as autism.”

The use of pitocin, Barcelo explains, is often referred to as “pit to distress”, or to deliberately put the baby in danger to more quickly necessitate the C-section option, which many mothers describe as not giving birth at all, but to having their baby stolen from them.

Also hair trigger decisions to abandon efforts to keep babies alive in Barcelo’s experience are really often fictitious brain death diagnoses that enable lucrative organ harvesting.

And the damage is not only to mother and child, but also to fathers, as it was for one dad who “lost my connection to my wife that I never regained” for what was perceived as failure to protect his wife when doctors induced a C-section without parental permission. The PTSD that often comes with trauma not only afflicts babies and their mothers, but also distraught dads.

But the pain of accelerating the birth process is more than emotional, as the testimony of a mother who tried to give birth at home but was forced to call paramedics vividly attests. Doctors routinely inject paralytic drugs but often don’t use anesthetics on patients they don’t like to punish them for being recalcitrant. One woman Barcelo quotes describes how she was given an incredibly painful C-section without anesthesia, but being paralyzed, was uanble to protest.

“The torture of infants and mothers happens regularly,” Barcelo writes matter-of-factly.

Bowels of the technological underworld

Barcelo writes:

“Worst of all in the fact that C-sectioned babies often end up in neonatal intensive care units, and those born before 39 weeks are twice as likely as those born vaginally to be kept in a NICU due to respiratory distress. Once a baby ends up in the NICU, the possibility for healthy bonding is further degraded.

“NICUs are like the bowels of the technological underworld. They are places where infants are literally held captive for weeks and months, and subjected to all manner of painful and tortuous medical procedures, most of the time without being given any kind of pain relief whatsoever.”

Once a baby gets into an NICU, she is subjected to 14 to 21 invasive procedures per day, all without anesthesia, and the parents have no say over the treatment, nor can they remove their child from the NICU. The experience of pain, Barcelo writes, completely changes the wiring of the brain in adulthood.

The story of Andrew and his five months of torture plus his $100,000 medical bill that preceded his death will curl your toenails, guaranteed.

“Babies are being used for medical experiments,” Barcelo writes. One government study that included data from Wake Forest and Yale universities involved deliberately depriving babies of oxygen to observe the results, which very often was death.

Barcelo reserves special scorn for the use of ultrasound frequencies, which are extremely dangerous to babies. “To me,” Barcelo writes, “this indicates a distinct level of evil within the medical profession. It is a clear indication that they are willing and able to deliberately cause harm.”

The lie that babies don’t feel pain

Of all of the horrific descriptions Barcelo has put forth in her descriptions of the barbaric birth process, the one that rattled this reviewer the most was the widespread practice of medical procedures on babies based on the principle that babies do not feel pain.

A woman demanded to see hospital records after her son’s death in 1985. She said, ‘Somehow it was possible for professionals who perceived a baby as too fragile to tolerate general anesthesia to perceive that same infant as able to withstand open-chest surgery without pain relief. . . .’ At two weeks (old), during his hour and half operation, Jeffrey had two holes cut on either side of his neck and one in his chest, he was cut from his breastbone around to his backbone, his flesh lifted aside, ribs pried apart, blood vessels tied off and lungs retreated, tissue stitched together and a ‘stab incision’ to secure chest tubes. He died a few days later as a result of the shock that overwhelmed his entire system causing his brain to bleed and his organs to fail. The hospital’s senior neonatologist responded to his mother’s inquiries by stating ‘it didn’t matter because he was a fetus,’ explaining that children less than 2 years of age do not feel pain . . .

“Such is the arrogance and extreme insanity of esteemed members of the medical profession who have continued to insist for more than 100 years that babies do not feel pain,” Barcelo writes.

She also is on top of the latest bogus claim by the CDC that infant circumcision will prevent HIV when an avalanche of medical research claims the opposite. Barcelo blames the CDC pronouncement on “a well orchestrated media campaign by the Jews” that enables doctors to continue the most common surgery in America be performed on babies without anesthesia.

Even disregarding the savage practice of Jewish rabbis <http://birthofanewearth.blogspot.com/2014/12/at-least-four-babies-contract-herpes-in.html>, studies have shown that ordinary circumcision trauma lasts a lifetime.

In addition, African countries have the highest rate of circumcision and the highest rate of HIV. And in Norway, the only country that records the circumcision status of rapists, the 2 percent of the population who are circumcised commit 80 percent of the rapes.

So how does the medical system do it? How do they turn good and decent people into biological robots who parrot nonsense and can’t seem to think for themselves? The answer lies in the indoctrination process is set-up to systematically break down the morality and the will of medical students, and, if all goes according to plan, will cause a split in their psyche that will result in dissociation and the assimilation of an alter personality that will be willing to conform to medical norms.

The horrors in these satanic birth factories seem to go on forever.

• Cells from aborted babies are also  being used for “flavor enhancing research” by companies like Senomyx and residue from aborted babies can be found in products made by Pepsi, Nestle, Kraft, and Campbell, all of whom have hired Senomyx to do their “flavor enhancing research”.

• Israel is on the cutting edge of this Luciferian technology and it is involved in something called “post mortem sperm retrieval,” which involves harvesting sperm from dead men.

And lastly,

According to Dr. Paul Byrne, 80-year neonatologist exposing the dark side of organ donation, “brain death” is a completely fictitious diagnosis conjured up by the underworld demigods for purposes of finding a way to legalize the harvesting of organs while people are still very much alive. Organ donation in the U.S. is an extremely dark business, with living people being wheeled into operating rooms and having their chests cleaved open and their organs removed one at a time at the hands of medical sadists . . . The organ removal is done without anesthesia in the U.S., but with the victims instead being given paralysis drugs so that they cannot move or scream while they are being tortured and murdered by medical doctors.

“Many people now allege that the CDC’s real purpose is genocide and depopulation, and that vaccines are biological weapons purposefully being used to create mass sterilization, disease and death. These programs are being used to deliberately depopulate the Earth, Barcelo insists, pointing out the chart on www.deagel.com that forecasts a drop in the U.S. population from 316 million to 69 million by 2025.

Jeanice Barcelo comes through a tragic lineage of the haunted womb, from a mother and grandmother who never bonded with their children. In reporting that 75% of mothers have received an epidural during labor prior to birthing their children, she is in a sad majority of children who did not receive the love they should have when they first appeared in the world.

That means that three quarters of the children who are born in this country do not receive the optimum amount of love from their mothers that they rightfully should, and looking at the world around us, the sad result of that tragedy is all too clear.

How “We, the People” … elect “War Mongers” .

Obama’s Permanent War Agenda

Global Research, December 26, 2014
Region:

military-industrial-complex-flag

He continues a longstanding tradition. America’s agenda is permanent war.

Lew Rockwell calls it “The Forever War.” Law Professor Marjorie Cohn says it “perpetual war.”

So did Gore Vidal in his 2002 book titled “Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace,” saying:

“(O)ur for more than half a century have made sure that we are never to be told the truth about anything that our government has done to other people, not to mention our own.”

In his same year book titled “Dreaming War,” he compared GW Bush’s imperial ambitions to WW II and the 1947 Truman Doctrine’s pledge:

“To support free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures.”

Truman initiated America’s National Security State strategy. It included establishing NATO in 1949. For offense, not defense.

Containing Russia was prioritized . NSC 4 outlined “US Objectives with Respect to the USSR to Counter Soviet Threats to US Security.”

NSC 7 followed. It covered “The Position of the United States With Respect to Soviet Dominated World Communism.”

Saying: “(A) defensive policy cannot be considered an effective means of checking the momentum of Soviet expansion.”

Defeating communism was considered “vital to the security of the United States.” Washington should organize and lead a “counter-offensive” aimed at undermining Soviet strength.

“(D)evelop(ing), and at the appropriate time carry(ing) out, a coordinated (anti-Soviet) program…”

In April 1950, NSC-68 called Russia an enemy “unlike previous aspirants to hegemony…”

Saying it was “animated by a new fanatic faith, antithetical to our own (wishing to) impose its absolute authority over the rest of the world.”

Sounds like how Obama characterizes ISIS/ISIL/the Islamic State (IS) today.

“(U)nique in (its) brutality,” he says. “Posing a threat to the people of…the broader Middle East – including American citizens, personnel and facilities.”

“If left unchecked, these terrorists could pose a growing threat beyond that region, including to the United States.”

No matter that IS is a US creation. US special forces and CIA operatives train its fighters in Jordan, Turkey and Georgia.

They’re sent to Syria to fight Assad. Part of America’s regime change strategy. Used against Gaddafi.

US allies and enemies at the same time. Big Lies substitute for truth and full disclosure. MSM scoundrels regurgitate them ad nauseam.

In his 1953 book “Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace: A Critical Examination of the Foreign Policy of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and It’s Aftermath,” historian Harry Elmer Barnes said:

“If trends continue as they have during the last fifteen years, we shall soon reach this point of no return, and can only anticipate interminable wars, disguised as noble gestures for peace.”

“Such an era could only culminate in a third world war.” He explained America’s needless involvement in two world wars.

Doing so transformed its pre-1914 dream “into a nightmare of fear, regimentation, destruction, insecurity, inflation, and ultimate insolvency.”

He challenged America’s alleged just cause for entering WW I.  Its foolhardiness for doing so. Disastrous results that followed.

Explained popular WW II fictions. Precipitating German/Austrian injustices. Censored Forrestal Diaries. Showing Roosevelt wanted war in the early 1930s.

His June 1940 “Stab in the Back” address promoted war. He asked

“(w)hat is to become of the country we know?”

“(Y)oung men and young women of America ask…with even greater anxiety than before.”

“They ask, not only what the future holds for this Republic, but what the future holds for all peoples and all nations that have been living under democratic forms of Government-under the free institutions of a free people.”

“It’s an obvious delusion that we of the United States can safely permit the United States to become a lone island, a lone island in a world dominated by the philosophy of force.”

Europe was at war. Roosevelt rallied Americans to support US involvement. Supplied Britain with vast amounts of weapons and munitions.

In September 1940, America’s Selective Training and Service Act became law. Initiating peacetime conscription for the first time in US history.

In January 1941, Roosevelt advisor Harry Hopkins told Winston Churchill:

“The President is determined that we shall win the war together. Make no mistake about it.”

Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Harold Stark told fleet commanders:

“The question of our entry into the war now seems to be when, and not whether.”

Only a pretext was needed. Months later it came. Roosevelt manipulated things to assure it.

On July 4, he said:

“(S)olemnly (understand) that the United States will never survive as a happy and fertile oasis of liberty surrounded by a cruel desert of dictatorship.”

His July 25 Executive Order froze Japanese assets, saying:

It was “(t)o prevent the use of the financial facilities of the United States in trade between Japan and the United States in ways harmful to national defense and American interests, to prevent the liquidation in the United States of assets obtained by duress or conquest, and to curb subversive activities in the United States.”

From 1933 through late 1941, Roosevelt spurned Japanese peace overtures. They would have protected America’s East Asian interests.

By late November, the die was cast. War Secretary Henry Stimson said it depended on how to maneuver Japan to attack with minimum US casualties.

In the late 1930s, Roosevelt encouraged a Japanese attack.

Against the advice of Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Harold Stark and Pacific Fleet Commander James Richardson, he stationed America’s Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor.

An embargo on Japan assured war. So did arming its enemies. Breaking the Japanese code let Washington track its fleet to Pearl Harbor.

“At a December 5 cabinet meeting, Navy Secretary Frank Knox said: “Well, you know Mr. President, we know where the Japanese fleet is?”

“Yes, I know,” responded Roosevelt. On December 7, 1941 at 7:55AM Hawaii time, Roosevelt got the war he wanted.

In his book titled “The Good War: An Oral History of World War II,” Studs Terkel (1912 – 2008) said the only thing good about it was America’s heartland was spared.

Wars are “lunatic” acts, said Terkel. Resolving nothing. Horrific by any standard.

Turning ordinary people into crazed killers. Destroying any hope for peace. Begetting more war.

Howard Zinn denounced the myth of good wars. They prevent peace. Perpetuate violence. World War II was worst of all.

Modern warfare is indifferent about who dies from 30,000 feet. “You just press a button, you know, and somebody dies,” said Zinn.

“You don’t see faceless victims. You don’t hear children scream. You don’t know about human flesh ripped to pieces. You think you’re the good guys. Kill the bad ones.”

“World War II is not that simple,” said Zinn. “The good guys became the bad guys. War poisons everybody. It corrupts everybody.”

Neither side reflects saintliness. Both sides are villainous. All sides wage dirty war. Without mercy. Slaughtering innocent civilians.

Did WW II stop fascism, asked Zinn? Did it stop racist persecution? End militarism? Restore peace?

When it ended, Zinn got a letter from General George Marshall. It wasn’t a “Dear Howie,” he said.

All US armed forces personnel got the same one. It was “something like this,” said Zinn.

“We’ve won the war. Congratulations for your service. It will be a new world.”

“It wasn’t a new world,” said Zinn. “War after war after war after war” followed. They rage today. The second war to end all wars perpetuated them.

Millions died for nothing. Fascism, despotism and militarism remain. Wars can’t be tolerated “no matter what we’re told,” said Zinn.

So-called good wars don’t exist. They’re worst of all. Civilians suffer most in all wars. Children suffer like adults.

Wars institutionalize violence. Assuring more wars. Continuing without end.

America’s only enemies are ones it invents. Mass slaughter and destruction persist. Planet earth is America’s battleground.

How many more millions will die? How much human misery is enough? How much longer will people tolerate the intolerable?

When will one century of war after another end? When will America’s rage to fight be challenged? When will swords be turned into plowshares?”

In 2003, “economic (military to civilian production) conversion” expert Seymour Melman addressed America’s permanent war economy, saying:

It shapes all aspects of US life. Its horrific toll includes:

  • a de-industrialized nation;
  • government financing and promoting “every kind of war industry and foreign investing by US firms;”
  • doing it at the expense of homeland needs;
  • maintaining the same policy since WW II; and
  • prioritizing war over all else in US society.

The result is thirdworldizing America. It’s a nation of beggars, poverty, homelessness, hunger, unemployment, underemployment, desperation and despair.

Growing millions are “disconnected from society’s mainstream,” said Melman. (They’re) restless and unhappy, frustrated, angry and sad.”

“State capitalism” characterizes America. It’s a government/business partnership.

For wealth, power and privilege. Advancing America’s imperium. For unchallenged US dominance.

Hugely corrupt. Unstable. Lawless. Inhumane. Exploiting suffering millions.

America’s agenda is pursued at the expense of lost industrialization. Crumbling infrastructure. A madness for waging wars without end.

No matter the cost. The toll. The downside. How badly things will end.

What can’t go on forever, won’t. Chalmers Johnson predicted eventual bankruptcy and ruin.

War on freedom persists. Disappearing in plain sight. Full-blown tyranny looms.

Melman said “(f)urther evasion is out of order. We must come to grips with America’s State Capitalism and its Permanent War Economy.”

Re-industrialization is essential “to restore jobs and production competence – industry by industry.”

“Failing that, there is no hope for any constructive exit.” Not for America. Nor its people. Nor others affected globally.

Not any time soon under Obama’s open-ended wars without end. His rage to fight.

Doing so based on Big Lies. Serving monied interests over popular ones.

Spurning rule of law principles. Trashing democratic values. Leading NATO’s killing machine. Its freedom-crushing monster.

Risking nuclear war with Russia. Waging it will be war to end all future ones.

No coming back. No second chances. No life left worth living. Extinguished from planet earth.

Today … is the seed for Tomorrow !

Free Fall of the Ruble: Who’s Behind it? A Ploy of

Russia’s Economic Wizards? Whose Chess Game?

With thanks to Peter Koenig  and Global Reasearch.

The world is still hell-bent for hydrocarbon-based energy. Russia is one of the world’s largest producer of energy. Russia has recently announced that in the future she will no longer trade energy in US dollars, but in rubles and currencies of the trading partners. In fact, this rule will apply to all trading. Russia and China are detaching their economies from that of the western financial system. To confirm this decision, in July 2014  Russia’s Gazprom concluded a 400 billion gas deal with China, and in November this year they signed an additional slightly smaller contract – all to be denominated in rubles and renminbi.

The remaining BRICS – Brazil, India and South Africa – plus the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) – China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kirgizstan, Uzbekistan and considered for membership since September 2014 are also India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Mongolia, with Turkey also waiting in the wings – will also trade in their local currencies, detached from the dollar-based western casino scheme. A host of other nations increasingly weary of the decay of the western financial system which they are locked into are just waiting for a new monetary scheme to emerge. So far their governments may have been afraid of the emperor’s wrath – but gradually they are seeing the light. They are sensing the sham and weakness behind Obama’s boisterous noise. They don’t want to be sucked into the black hole, when the casino goes down the drain.

To punish Russia for Ukraine, Obama is about to sign into law major new sanctions against Russia, following Congress’s unanimous passing of a recent motion to this effect. – That is what the MSM would like you to believe. It is amazing that ten months after the Washington instigated Maidan slaughter and coup where a Washington selected Nazi Government was put in place, the MSM still lies high about the origins of this government and the massacres it is committing in the eastern Ukraine Donbass area.

Congress’s unanimity – what Congress and what unanimity? – Out of 425 lawmakers, only 3 were present for the vote http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article40489.htm. The others may have already taken off for their year-end recess, or simply were ‘ashamed’ or rather afraid to object to the bill. As a matter of fact, of the three who were present to vote, two at first objected. Only after a bit of arm-twisting and what not, they were willing to say yes. This is how the ‘unanimous’ vote came to be, as trumpeted by the MSM – unanimous by three votes! The public at large is duped again into believing what is not.

What new sanctions does this repeatedly propagated bill entail? – It addresses mostly Russian energy companies and the defense industry with regard to sales to Syria, as well more anti-Russia propaganda and ‘democratization’ programs in Ukraine – and Russia; all countries with the objective for regime change.

How do these sanctions affect Russia, especially since all Russian energy sales are no longer dollar denominated? – Sheer propaganda. The naked emperor once more is calling an unsubstantiated bluff. To show his western stooges who is in power. It’s an ever weaker showoff.

Now – as a consequence of declining oil prices and of western ‘sanctions’ – of course, what else? – Russia’s economy is suffering and the ruble is in free fall. Since the beginning of the year it lost about 60%; last week alone 20%. As a result and after serious consideration, says MSM, the Russian Central Bank decided a few days ago to increase the interest of reference from 10.5% to 17% to make the ruble more attractive for foreign investors. It worked only for a few hours. Raising the interbank interest was Putin’s reply to Obama’s bluff – feeding at the same time western illusion about Russia’s decline.

The propaganda drums tell you Russia is helpless because the world has lost the last bit of confidence in President Putin – of course. Regime change is on the agenda. Mr. Putin must be blamed as the culprit, hoping to discredit him with his people. He is leading Russia into a deep recession; the worst since the collapse of the Soviet Union. The mainstream media show you interviews with average mainstreet Russians saying they have lost all their savings, their salaries and pensions are worth nothing anymore and they don’t know how to survive this coming calamity.

In reality, at least 80% of the Russian population stands solidly behind Vladimir Putin. He has brought them universal education, health care and fixed infrastructure that was decaying after the fall of the Soviet Union. President Putin is literally revered as a hero by the vast majority of Russians – including the country’s oligarchy.

In fact, nobody in the western economic system these days is dealing in rubles. In short-sighted connivance with Washington, the treasuries of the western vassals are releasing their ruble reserves – which Russia does not buy, thereby flooding the market. Russia not only has large dollar reserves, plus the ruble is backed by gold, a fact consistently omitted in the MSM. For now, Russia prefers to let the ruble plummet.

Under another ‘arrangement’ by bully Obama, Middle Eastern oil producing puppets like Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States are overproducing and flooding the market with petrol and gas, thereby driving the price down to the ostensible detriment of Russia and Venezuela, both countries where Washington  vies for regime change. A double whammy thinks Washington, buying kudos with the stooges. The sheiks that control their energy output apparently have been promised enough goodies from Washington to bite the bullet and take their own losses.

Russia needs rubles. That’s her currency. That is the currency Russia needs for future trading – detached from the western monetary system.

When Russia deems that her currency has reached rock-bottom, she will buy back cheap rubles in the market with massive amounts of dollars. Russia may then flood the western market – with dollars, euros and other western-allied currencies – and gold.  Let’s not forget, the ruble is backed by gold. By now we know what flooding a market with currencies may do to these currencies – and simultaneously buy back rubles from the West.  A brilliant move to reestablish Russia’s currency in a new emerging monetary system – which Europe would be welcome to join, but willingly, not by Washington style arm-twisting.

Surely, Russia is not interested to cause the sudden destruction of the dollar-linked financial world. She is not interested in a sudden death of the many countries that are potential new trading partners in a new monetary system. Instead, the fall of the western economy of deceit may be planned as a gradual slide, so that countries have time to switch – switch their reserves to rubles, yuans and other BRICS and SCO currencies. This move is on its way. Only ten years ago, dollar denominated securities constituted 90% of reserves worldwide. Today the rate is 60% and declining.

After all, perhaps as Plan B, there is also a pact of monetary alliance between Russia and China. China holds currently about 1.5 trillion dollars and in total more than 3 trillion dollar equivalent in western currencies – and undefined but huge gold reserves. Chinese, BRICS and SCO solidarity with Russia is a solid security for the ruble. Imagine – the first major action of the new BRICS Development Bank with a current capital base of 100 billion dollars would launch a massive ruble rescue operation. No worries, Russia’s economy is on firm course.

The question begs – is this gigantic ‘engineered’ ruble devaluation scheme another precursor to war? A nuclear confrontation or Cold War II? – Precursor to another western, Washington-driven false flag attempting Moscow to fall into a lethal trap? – Not necessarily. Russia is playing a clever chess game, diplomacy at its best. Instead of sabre rattling – Russia is coin rattling. It might lead to a western financial fiasco early in 2015 for the dollar and euro denominated economies. And the winner is…?

Lord … Forgive US … We the People !!

The Anti-Empire Report #135

By William Blum – Published December 19th, 2014

http://williamblum.org/aer/read/1351

American Exceptionalism and American Torture

In 1964, the Brazilian military, in a US-designed coup, overthrew a liberal (not more to the left than that) government and proceeded to rule with an iron fist for the next 21 years. In 1979 the military regime passed an amnesty law blocking the prosecution of its members for torture and other crimes. The amnesty still holds. http://williamblum.org/aer/read/135

That’s how they handle such matters in what used to be called The Third World. In the First World, however, they have no need for such legal niceties. In the United States, military torturers and their political godfathers are granted amnesty automatically, simply for being American, solely for belonging to the “Good Guys Club”.

So now, with the release of the Senate Intelligence Committee report on CIA torture, we have further depressing revelations about US foreign policy. But do Americans and the world need yet another reminder that the United States is a leading practitioner of torture? Yes. The message can not be broadcast too often because the indoctrination of the American people and Americophiles all around the world is so deeply embedded that it takes repeated shocks to the system to dislodge it. No one does brainwashing like the good ol’ Yankee inventors of advertising and public relations. And there is always a new generation just coming of age with stars (and stripes) in their eyes.

The public also has to be reminded yet again that – contrary to what most of the media and Mr. Obama would have us all believe – the president has never actually banned torture per se, despite saying recently that he had “unequivocally banned torture” after taking office. http://williamblum.org/aer/read/135

Shortly after Obama’s first inauguration, both he and Leon Panetta, the new Director of the CIA, explicitly stated that “rendition” was not being ended. As the Los Angeles Times reported at the time: “Under executive orders issued by Obama recently, the CIA still has authority to carry out what are known as renditions, secret abductions and transfers of prisoners to countries that cooperate with the United States.” http://williamblum.org/aer/read/135

The English translation of “cooperate” is “torture”. Rendition is simply outsourcing torture. There was no other reason to take prisoners to Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Egypt, Jordan, Kenya, Somalia, Kosovo, or the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia, amongst other torture centers employed by the United States. Kosovo and Diego Garcia – both of which house large and very secretive American military bases – if not some of the other locations, may well still be open for torture business, as is the Guantánamo Base in Cuba.

Moreover, the key Executive Order referred to, number 13491, issued January 22, 2009, “Ensuring Lawful Interrogations”, leaves a major loophole. It states repeatedly that humane treatment, including the absence of torture, is applicable only to prisoners detained in an “armed conflict”. Thus, torture by Americans outside an environment of “armed conflict” is not explicitly prohibited. But what about torture within an environment of “counter-terrorism”?

The Executive Order required the CIA to use only the interrogation methods outlined in a revised Army Field Manual. However, using the Army Field Manual as a guide to prisoner treatment and interrogation still allows solitary confinement, perceptual or sensory deprivation, sensory overload, sleep deprivation, the induction of fear and hopelessness, mind-altering drugs, environmental manipulation such as temperature and noise, and stress positions, amongst other charming examples of American Exceptionalism.

After Panetta was questioned by a Senate panel, the New York Times wrote that he had “left open the possibility that the agency could seek permission to use interrogation methods more aggressive than the limited menu that President Obama authorized under new rules … Mr. Panetta also said the agency would continue the Bush administration practice of ‘rendition’ … But he said the agency would refuse to deliver a suspect into the hands of a country known for torture or other actions ‘that violate our human values’.” http://williamblum.org/aer/read/135

The last sentence is of course childishly absurd. The countries chosen to receive rendition prisoners were chosen precisely and solely because they were willing and able to torture them.

Four months after Obama and Panetta took office, the New York Times could report that renditions had reached new heights. http://williamblum.org/aer/read/135

The present news reports indicate that Washington’s obsession with torture stems from 9/11, to prevent a repetition. The president speaks of “the fearful excesses of the post-9/11 era”. There’s something to that idea, but not a great deal. Torture in America is actually as old as the country. What government has been intimately involved with that horror more than the United States? Teaching it, supplying the manuals, supplying the equipment, creation of international torture centers, kidnaping people to these places, solitary confinement, forced feeding, Guantánamo, Abu Ghraib, Bagram, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Chicago … Lord forgive us!

In 2011, Brazil instituted a National Truth Commission to officially investigate the crimes of the military government, which came to an end in 1985. But Mr. Obama has in fact rejected calls for a truth commission concerning CIA torture. http://williamblum.org/aer/read/135On June 17 of this year, however, when Vice President Joseph Biden was in Brazil, he gave the Truth Commission 43 State Department cables and reports concerning the Brazilian military regime, including one entitled “Widespread Arrests and Psychophysical Interrogation of Suspected Subversives.” http://williamblum.org/aer/read/135

Thus it is that once again the United States of America will not be subjected to any accountability for having broken US laws, international laws, and the fundamental laws of human decency. Obama can expect the same kindness from his successor as he has extended to George W.

“One of the strengths that makes America exceptional is our willingness to openly confront our past, face our imperfections, make changes and do better.” – Barack Obama, written statement issued moments after the Senate report was made public. http://williamblum.org/aer/read/135

And if that pile of hypocrisy is not big enough or smelly enough, try adding to it Bidens’ remark re his visit to Brazil: “I hope that in taking steps to come to grips with our past we can find a way to focus on the immense promise of the future.” http://williamblum.org/aer/read/135

If the torturers of the Bush and Obama administrations are not held accountable in the United States they must be pursued internationally under the principles of universal jurisdiction.

In 1984, an historic step was taken by the United Nations with the drafting of the “Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment” (came into force in 1987, ratified by the United States in 1994). Article 2, section 2 of the Convention states: “No exceptional circumstances whatsoever, whether a state of war or a threat of war, internal political instability or any other public emergency, may be invoked as a justification of torture.”

Such marvelously clear, unequivocal, and principled language, to set a single standard for a world that makes it increasingly difficult for one to feel proud of humanity. We cannot slide back. If today it’s deemed acceptable to torture the person who supposedly has the vital “ticking-bomb” information needed to save lives, tomorrow it will be acceptable to torture him to learn the identities of his alleged co-conspirators. Would we allow slavery to resume for just a short while to serve some “national emergency” or some other “higher purpose”?

If you open the window of torture, even just a crack, the cold air of the Dark Ages will fill the whole room.

Cuba … at long, long last … maybe …

Hopefully, it’s what it appears to be. Cuba will now be treated by the United States as a country worthy of at least as much respect as Washington offers to its highly oppressive, murdering, torturing allies in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Honduras, Israel, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.

It’s a tough decision to normalize relations with a country whose police force murders its own innocent civilians on almost a daily basis, and even more abroad, but Cuba needs to do it. Maybe the Cubans can civilize the Americans a bit.

Let’s hope that America’s terrible economic embargo against the island will go the way of the dinosaurs, and Cuba will be able to demonstrate more than ever what a rational, democratic, socialist society can create. But they must not open the economy for the Yankee blood-suckers to play with as they have all over the world.

And I’ll be able to go to Cuba not as a thief in the night covering my tracks and risking a huge fine.

But with the Republicans taking over Congress next month, all of this may be just a pipe dream.

Barack Obama could have done this six years ago when he took office; or five years ago when American Alan Gross was first arrested and imprisoned in Cuba. It would have been even easier back then, with Obama’s popularity at its height and Congress not as captured by the Know-Nothings as now.

So, Cuba outlasted all the punishment, all the lies, all the insults, all the deprivations, all the murderous sabotage, all the assassination attempts against Fidel, all the policies to isolate the country. But for many years now, it’s the United States that has been isolated in the Western Hemisphere.

Reason Number 13,336 why capitalism will be the death of us.

Antibiotic-resistant bacteria – the “superbugs” – if left unchecked, could result in 10 million deaths a year by 2050. New drugs to fight the superbugs are desperately needed. But a panel advising President Obama warned in September that “there isn’t a sufficiently robust pipeline of new drugs to replace the ones rendered ineffective by antibiotic resistance.”

The problem, it appears, is that “Antibiotics generally provide low returns on investment, so they are not a highly attractive area for research and development.” http://williamblum.org/aer/read/135

Aha! “Low returns on investment”! What could be simpler to understand? Is it not a concept worth killing and dying for? Just as millions of Americans died in the 20th century so corporations could optimize profits by not protecting the public from tobacco, lead, and asbestos.

Corporations are programmed to optimize profits without regard for the society in which they operate, in much the same way that cancer cells are programmed to proliferate without regard for the health of their host.

Happy New Year. Here’s what you have to look forward to in 2015.

They fracked up… how the booming shale gas industry is destroying America

Inbox

Clayton Lindblom support@teslasecret.com via partnermark.com

Nov 15 (2 days ago)

to me
They called it the start of a new oil rush.

It is said to make the US the leading oil exporter… but the effects are a lot more serious than they thought. And repairing the damage, if it will be possible at all, will dwarf the total benefits as recent reports prove:

How fracking poisons our Food

Healthy farming needs abundant supplies of clean water, clean air, and clean soil. It needs a critical mass of acreage that is not fragmented by drill pads, access roads, pipelines and compressor stations. Farms need to be free of the stigma that may be attributed to food sourced from areas where fracking could take place.

A few points to consider:

  • Air-borne gases that are released in the drilling and transport process, and from thousands of diesel fueled truck trips per well, is converted to ground-level ozone when combined with sunlight. These emissions can cause health problems in humans and livestock. Ground level ozone has been shown to reduce crop yield by up to 30%, and endangers key feed crops such as clover, vital for pastured livestock.
  • Methane and other chemicals that seep out in the process will wind up in air and surface water such as farm ponds, streams and rivers that provide irrigation for livestock and crops.
  • Chemical residues in wastewater can poison animals.
  • Unlike agriculture’s water usage, water used for hydraulic fracturing is consumptive and permanently removed from the hydrological cycle. This is especially foolish and wasteful in areas of extreme drought where the availability of water is already shrinking.
  • It is impossible for adequate food safety inspections to occur since oil and gas companies are not required to fully disclose the chemicals used in the toxic drilling cocktail. There is no set process for testing for contaminants or complete knowledge of what to test for.
  • Interestingly, the ingredients of salt and water cannot receive organic certification.
  • Sales of food and farm products from fracked areas will be adversely affected by the wholesale and retail buyers distrust of the health and safety of the product, forcing the end of businesses, the loss of food, and the end of a way of life.

Fracking is depleting our water

As US public policy debates over the dangers and benefits of fracking for shale gas persist, a new report has emerged showing that the practice generated 280 billion gallons of toxic waste last year – containing cancer-causing and radioactive substances.

Fracking a single well can use between two and nine million gallons of water combined with sand and chemicals. Much of the fresh water used returns to the earth’s surface, but contains radium and bromides.

“When bromide in the wastewater mixes with chlorine (often used at drinking water treatment plants), it produces trihalomethanes, chemicals that cause cancer and increase the risk of reproductive or developmental health problems,” the report notes. It also found that 450,000 tons of air pollutants can potentially be produced in one year by the practice.
Fracking causes earthquakes

States where hydraulic fracturing is taking place have seen a surge in earthquake activity, raising suspicions that the unconventional drilling method could be to blame, especially the wells where the industry disposes of its wastewater.

Oklahoma has recorded nearly 250 small-to-medium earthquakes since January, according to statistics kept by the U.S. Geological Survey. That’s close to half of all the magnitude 3 or higher earthquakes recorded this year in the continental United States. The biggest concern was Oklahoma’s 5.7-magnitude earthquake in 2011.

A study published earlier this month in the journal Science suggests that just four wells injecting massive amounts of drilling wastewater into the ground are probably shaking up much of the state, accounting for one out of every five quakes from the eastern border of Colorado to the Atlantic coast.

The “shale oil miracle” has only worked to fill the pockets of Big Oil… while destroying the lives of American farmers…

And the consequences will be felt sooner rather than later…

Stay safe. Stay prepared.
